From December 10 to December 12, Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard will visit Washington, where she will meet with United States Trade Representative Susan Schwab, in particular. The discussions will mainly concern the Doha Round and the U.S.-Swiss Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum.

The Federal Council has welcomed the acceptance in the popular vote of the Federal Act on Cooperation with Eastern Europe. They regard the result as an expression of Switzerland's solidarity with the region and as a contribution to the creation of a stable and socially oriented Europe. At the same time, they note, this commitment amounts to a political and economic investment in Switzerland's own interests and for its benefit.
