FDEA goes EAER: Departmental reform implemented

Federal Council decisions of June and September 2011 led to changes in the administration at the beginning of 2013. The Federal Department of Economic Affairs FDEA, Federal Department of Home Affairs FDHA and Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA were affected.

Since 1 January 2013 all matters relating to education, research and innovation at federal level have been brought together in the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER, formerly the Federal Department of Economic Affairs FDEA. The State Secretariat for Education and Research SER has been moved from the FDHA and have been combined with the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology OPET to form the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI in this new department. The SERI is headed by State Secretary Mauro Dell'Ambrogio.

There have been further changes as part of the reform of the administration; from 1 January 2013 the Integration Office, which was previously affiliated to both the FDFA and the FDEA, became part of the FDFA only and the Federal Veterinary Office FVO was moved from the FDEA to the FDHA.
