Twelve projects with Swiss companies for Ukraine’s reconstruction
Berne, 28.08.2025 — During a visit to Switzerland by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, the two countries announced projects involving Swiss companies that will be supported as part of Ukraine's reconstruction. The twelve projects receiving funding are in the areas of infrastructure (energy, housing), public transport, health and humanitarian demining. The Swiss private sector will therefore be able to support Ukraine's reconstruction efforts through its expertise and innovative, high-quality products.
On 26 June 2024, the Federal Council decided to support the Swiss private sector so that it could play a greater role in Ukraine’s reconstruction. Swiss companies were invited to participate in a call for proposals by the end of March. The following basic conditions applied: the projects had to meet a need in Ukraine, and the companies had to have a legal entity in Ukraine. The budget for project support amounts to CHF 100 million. Individual projects will receive between CHF 1 million and CHF 15 million in funding. The call for proposals met with great interest, with around 60 Swiss companies submitting almost 80 project proposals.
The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture assessed the submitted projects according to criteria such as relevance, added value, contribution to economic development, sustainability and the company's implementation capacity. The twelve highest-rated projects, with a total budget of over CHF 112 million, were selected. Switzerland is providing CHF 93 million in funding, with the remainder coming from the companies and Ukrainian partners. The selected projects are scheduled to begin in the autumn.
During her visit to Bern, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko held talks with State Secretary Helene Budliger, the Federal Council's delegate for Ukraine, Jacques Gerber, and Swiss business associations. The discussions focused on the opportunities and prospects for the Swiss private sector in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
